Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer....latch issue

The latch on my dryer broke, so I ordered the part Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Door latch kit, part number: AP3094183 to replace it, but the striker that came with the new set … there is no way this is going to work. It is totally not like the one that came off.
The online chat person said the one I got is an upgrade, but it flat will not work.

The one I had looks like the one in the picture I attached which is nothing at all like the one I got for replacement.

Call back the APP parts department on Monday and get them to send you the right one. (we who reply on this site are not associated with the parts operations.)

If they cannot helpl you, they will take it back and you can try another supplier.
