My Whirlpool electric built in oven suddenly takes a long time to reach the set temperature. It takes over 20 minutes to reach 350 degrees and over 45 minutes to reach 450 degrees. Model # RB260PXBB1, 17 years old.
Would the Bake (bottom) heating element get red?
Gene.
It is not turning red.
Pull out the Bake heating element and make sure the wires are properly connected its terminals. Fix them if anything is wrong.
Disconnect the wires from the Bake heating element and check the heating element for continuity. If there is no continuity, replace the heating element.
If the heating element is good, then the problem is a bad oven control board. Unfortunately, this part is no longer available.

I checked the continuity and found it was broken even though the element was intact. I ordered a new element and it arrived today. I installed the element and the oven is working fine again. Thank you Gene.
You are welcome. I’m glad you were able to fix it.
