Hey everyone…
Have this strange problem with a whirlpool duet front load washer.
Model number is GHW9150PWO
The customer had a flood and when he got to the washer saw the water coming from the front bottom of the door.
So it’s like the door is not holding tight enough.
He also said sometimes when he would get to the washer it would still be full of water. Then he would put it on Drain/Spin cycle and it would drain.
But when I went over to test it. Had a full load in it. And it did leak a little but only drops. But everything else worked well.
Just wondering if anyone has heard of this or could think of a fix.
Thanks in advance.
Ask the customer how he turned the water off, unplug washer, or turn off wall water valves.
If he turned off the wall valves, probably weak water pressure, or a partially blocked washer water valve screen.
Thanks for the reply…
He pushed the power button to turn it off.
Then put it to drain/spin to drain the water out and spin the cloth dry.
He cannot remember if the water was up to the window… But I would think it had to be for the washer to leak as much as it did…
I suspect the water level switch… Seems like the cheapest thing to try…
But what worries me… Is when I tested the washer… It filled like normal, but when the washer would be washing there was a drip coming from the bottom of the door in the middle. Like it’s not sealing properly…
But I took the hose off the water level switch and let the water come up to the middle of the door while it was washing and it did not leak much… Maybe a drop every 10-20 seconds.
The Door seal/ Bellow is in great shape.
When the washer is on. I tried to pull the door a little to see if it would leak more but it would not.
And this is someone I know personally so i’ve had him watch the washer on many occasions where it worked ok… But it seems when he walks away it leaks like crazy… and now he’s thinking about getting rid of the 4 year old front load to go to a cabrio…
But I’m hoping this gets figured out… I will probably try the water level switch first and see if anything in the door is loose…
Any input on this is appreciated…

The customer may be using cheap laundry detergent. GE washers are famous for building up soap residue in the bowl at the bottom of the tub. Might want to dump vinegar in the tub and funnel some down the water level hose to clean it out. GE washers have a bowl you can see through, but not this one.
I fixed a washer that flooded. Replaced the water valve and found a piece of flat plastic blocking the screen. It would just flood if the plastic moved the wrong way. Water solenoids depend on water pressure to turn off!!!

Thanks for the input…
The water valve was replaced first.
Because he had the copper lines changed in the basement and it plugged the valve.
But he was having this problem before that. And it’s been the same even with a new valve.
The water pressure is good. Not too much not too little… Have checked with hoses off and know from experience how it should look…
And for the soap… They use kirkland soap which is what I use and my boss use in our front load which are the same as his…
This problem really has us stuck… He has used the washer about 20 times since I’ve been there and it’s working good but still leaking a drop or so of water every second while it’s in wash mode.
It’s coming from where the door meets the washer. And leaks at the bottom.
Really strange… And he’s got this contract with Trans Global which pays for service… But we have no idea and no one else seems to know what to do here…
Oh yeah… Water level control has been replaced. We had a spare new one here and put it on to see… So we know it’s not the valve or water level switch…
