Whirlpool GHW9250ML0 fills with water will not spin and shows no errors

Whilrpool moddle GHW9250ML0 will fill with water but will not move the basket and reports no errors.

- I do notice that the solinoids sound weak but the door locks and the water valves open.

- I noticed a zapping sound in the bottom on the unit. Removal of the lower front cover did not allow me to see the cause of the sound. Zapping sound went away after front bottom cover was removed.

- Unit is on a dedicated 20amp plug, house voltage is good Unit sits on a concrete floor.

- No burnt wires, No loose connections.

- Basket turns freely with motor and belt in place.

- With front lower cover removed I can see the motor rotor jerk. It looks like it is underpowered. This motor looks like a stepper motor and I am un aware of the volt/amp expected on the pins. thus pointing me to the control unit.

I bought this unit show room new. The unit is factory, no service has been done on this since install many years ago. The duty cycle on the unit was pretty much all day. I have 4 kids and bath towls are hard to keep.

Unit was put into test mode per the manual and all modes worked except the basket movement. "Still no errors." Well, the timer will flash the remaining time of 0:11 and then the control panel locks up. I have to unplug the unit, press the green button and then the red button to open the door. It seems the unit has a last state power loss memory that can be anoying.

Possible cause would be the control unit? if so which one.

Have you seen a motor / unit behave like this?

Please advise.
