We recently had a power outage and coincidentally (or not) I noticed the oven panel does nothing but display the time. None of the buttons work or even beep. I do remember being able to reset the time after the power outage but don’t remember trying the oven. I just duplicated the power outage (failure) by turning off the breaker to the stove but now the PF is constantly on and still no other buttons except time display work.
By reading the other consumers problems I’m afraid we may need a new panel control. What is the problem - can I fix this myself or do I have to call a repair person for this?
In order to provide most accurate advice we need the complete model number of the oven. The model number you posted is not a valid Whirlpool model number.
That was the number I found on the back of the manual. I looked everywhere on the doors and didn’t see a serial number or model number sticker like I usually see in stand-alone stoves. Where do I look for the serial number or model number? It’s a Whirpool "gold" gas stove.
Unplug the range. Remove the rear cover of the control panel. Unplug the ribbon cable from the control board and carefully clean the connector using a pencil eraser.
Put all back together and give it a try. Post the results.
