Whirlpool Refridge is no running! Help

Hello can someone give me a clue where I can start on my fridge because it stopped running and I need some help… The compressor is not turning on and off… I checked the switches and they are okay but I dont know where to go from here… Any help will be appreciated…

Remove the back panel and check if the compressor is running, it should be warm and vibrating.

Thanks rich for replying… The inside light comes on but i dont hear anything humming like usual… I will remove the panel later on to see if there is a fan which should be spinning… Just in case if i dont see anything spinning or humming is there something else i should check or is the compressor toast? Thanks

Reach in the refrigerator and remove the hole plug, then stick a screwdriver in and turn the defrost timer. If compressor now starts, order a defrost timer.

It is a small plastic plug on the plastic control panel next to the cold control. Behind it is the defrost timer, you need to turn it, probably stuck in defrost.

Most probable problem for no power to the condensing fan and compressor is the defrost timer. If the cold control clicks when turned, it’s probably good. Just make sure it is turned on.
There is a four pin connector plugged in to the timer. Remove it, unplug fridg, and locate the three pins that are isolated from the fourth. Stick a jumper between the middle and outer pin, which I think is for the compressor. Plug fridg in. If still not working, move the jumper to the inner pin. If it now works, you need to replace the timer.

Thanks again rich for your quick help… Sounds good because you are bypassing the timer to make sure that the compressor is good right? I will try this in the morning of course with my fingers crossed cause the wifey is getting frustrated and I dont have the money for a costly repair job…

Hello Rich i am back with bad news for me cause the wire jumping did not do anything at all… The lights turn on as usual but no compressor… Just to let you know that the fridge is in my garage and it is about 35 to 40 degrees if that means anything…but i would believe that it should at least spin the fan…Sorry to be a pest and thanks alot…

Try a jumper on the cold control, might be bad.

Okay sounds good…

Hello rich i think i found the culprit when i jumped the cold control it started up right away… I am rushing to get the part right now and hopefully this is the only problem… Thanks again to you and everyones help…Merry Christmas

Water dispenser does not dispense H2O; ice maker works. I changed the filter. There is good flow from the feed line. I disconnected the coupling in the toe kick area and have good flow when the "cup switch" is activated. However, I can blow no air into the tube that goes inside the freezer door to the dispenser spigot. The light dispenser light works and I hear the pump is operating. I have held the switch for 2-3 min.

i just replaced a main control board, now the water dispencer stops working. can anyone give an idea?

I saw that this GE model GSH25JFRF is prone to freezing the dispenser line. I shut off the refrigerator and opened the freezer door. I then warmed both sides of the dispenser area with a hair dryer and in an hours span, the heat penetrated the insulation and thawed the line. We have not had this much water flow for months or years. GE now makes a water dispenser heater that sells for $55. I hope I don’t have a frequent recurring problem because installation appears difficult.

My refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling. I unplugged the unit overnight and powered it back up this morning and it is still not cooling. I hear the fan blowing in the back and the compressor clicking on and off but everything is still warm. Please Advise!
