Whirlpool stuck in rinse cycle

I started the dishwasher one evening last week, only to find it still in the rinse cycle the next morning. I was able to manually turn the dial and it did drain and shut off normally. I ran it the next day and the water did heat, but it still got stuck in the rinse cycle. Another forum indicated it is probably the timer, but since it is about $100 for the part, I want to know what I can check first to be as certain as possible that a new timer will correct the problem. I have never had to to any repairs to a dishwasher, so I’m starting from scratch. Any suggestions?

Hi Anjanette,

Keep me updated, please.

Gene.

The water will always fill whether the lid is closed or not make sure your tube doeen’t have water in it make sure when it was reassembled the tube didn’t get pinched or come off at both ends and also reset the water level switch. if it has a reset on the switch do it there. it will say reset on control panel if not, putting the machine in spin and running it will reset the switch. All that is happening is the water level switch isn’t getting satisfied to shut the water off at the level it’s set on. so it continues to fill from now until eternity and the timer won’t advance until contact is made in the switch which is what puts voltage to the timer so either the switch is bad or the tubing that hooks into it is piched or has come off since the switch works off air pressure

Hey Gene,

I’m having this problem too. It’s stuck on rinse and I manually turn it to dry and it dries. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it, but at the same time thisstarted happening, my sink faucet started spraying at the base when turned on. No idea what’s happening?!?!?

Jess

Jess,

What is the complete model number of the dishwasher?
