Whirlpool Ultimate Care II dryer will not start

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II dryer that will not start. I noticed within the past couple of weeks that the light on the inside of the dryer did not work. I assumed I needed a new appliance bulb and was going to get one. Yesterday when I went to use the dryer, the light came on so I thought it must have been loose. I turned the timer to the setting I needed and then pressed start. The dryer ran for about 2 seconds then stopped. The light is not working again, nor do I hear any sound from the timer that normally ticks until the time has ended. I checked the circuit breaker, and it is fine. What could be the problem? Is it the thermal fuse, door switch, or something else? I have unplugged the dryer for safety purposes. Thanks.

I am assuming this is in timed dry mode.

I checked the circuit breaker, and it is fine.
Just looking at the breaker is no good, see below.

Since the problem is probably power or the door switch or the timer I would start with the power. It is the easiest to check.

Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
Check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
Do this with the heater off and on.
Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!!

I checked the power and the connections. It is ok. I am guessing that the next step is to check the door switch. I do have one question though. Would a faulty door switch cause the timer not to tick when it is set to a time? I can move the timer and get no response from it. My biggest fear is that the whole control panel may have gone bad. All advice/suggestions are appreciated.

Yes it will.

Following is the circuit for the timer when in a timed dry setting.

Neutral , Door Switch , Timer Switch 4 (T to WB) , Timer Motor , timer contacts BU to BK (blue to black) , L1 line voltage (120 volts)
