Whirlpool Ultimate Care ll no agitate spin or drain.

Original problem was just no spin. Drained fine. Watched your vid on YouTube and found clutch was worn so got the new one AND a coupler since I had it all apart. The replacement coupler looked better as it has a metal piece where the flat parts are so it won’t round. Re assembled all no problem. Test went fine during first cycle it drained and spun but the breaker popped near the end of the spin but I thought it was cuz I was vacuuming up the mess and was plugged into the same circuit. So reset breaker and started machine again. It filled for the rinse but no agitation, no spin and no drain. Timer ticks away and there is a hum/buzz sound but no action. Siphoned the water out took it all apart again and checked coupler and clutch. All look good. What’s up wit dat?

You may have not gotten the coupler halves on far enough. This is very common when DIY’ers install them. This causes too much lateral pressure on the motor shaft when you reinstall the motor and can quickly damage the motor bearings. The new couplers with metal inserts are difficult to get on and must be tapped on with socket and hammer until coupler hub is flush with the ends of the motor and gearcase shafts.

Other possibilities include you may have disturbed the motor and/or capacitor wiring. Something loose or got broken.

Thanks Eric. I am a dyier but not a noobie. The parts are seated correctly. Just had it apart and everything moves smoothly. Or should it? The drive shaft turns easily and has some lateral movement. The coupler turns also and turns the water pump shaft.
