Whirlpool washer fills then begins to agitate while ejecting waterl

I have a problem with my washer. When I turn it on it begins to fill. When it gets to the proper level (I have 3 level options) the machine starts to agitate but continues to eject the water it just filled. I found an article elsewhere that suggests testing the water level switch, which I’ve done. I got the results showing it’s okay…one set of connectors show no resistance and the other shows an open circuit. So now I’m stumped. I keep thinking that it might be the timer but in every article I’ve found, they don’t mention anything about the timer. Seems like the timer never goes bad. I was hoping someone could explain how to test the timer with a multitester just as I did for the water level switch. Or does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem may be other than the water level switch. Thanks!

[SIZE=3]There is a chance the water is siphoning or running out rather than being pumped out. Assuming you have a direct drive washer (without a model number I can’t be sure) and if this is the case. The motor turns one way to drain/spin then the other way to agitate. When the motor is turning the way that makes it agitate the pump will not pump water. Therefore the water can’t agitate and pump water at the same time but the water can siphon out. These are things that can cause a siphoning condition. [/SIZE]

*][SIZE=3]The drainpipe to your house may be too low and you either need to extend the pipe up above the top of the tub or run the drain hose from your washer up high. [/SIZE][/LIST]

*][SIZE=3]Someone may have taped the drain hose from the washer to the drainpipe to your house to stop the water from backing up. To fix this either clean out the drainpipe to your house and remove the tape or install a siphon break, part number 201112. [/SIZE][/LIST]

*][SIZE=3]If the drain hose from your washer is pushed down the drainpipe too far, this will also cause the same problem. To fix it just pull it out to within about 6 inches of the end of the drainpipe.[/SIZE][/LIST]
