I have a roughly five to six year old whirlpool stack washer and dryer, the dryer powers up just fine, works as it should. Dryer is gas, and both washer and dryer use the same 120 volt circuit for power. My problem is that the washer does not start when you pull the timer knob out. My lid switch is good, checked that already. Not sure how to check for continuity with any other vital parts to see if they are good. Could it simply be the timer? With the timer knob pulled out to actuate the washer, I have no power coming down to the contacts where the lid switch molex plug attaches to the housing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The lid switch will only have power to it if you are in spin mode or the tub is full of water. Does it fill with water? I assume not. You need to check continuity between the hot (small blade) of the AC cord plug and the gray/yellow wire on the timer with timer knob pulled out. If open, check hot to black wire on timer. If open, you need to trace that wire to find where the fault is. There may be a quick disconnect connection in that run. If these checks are good, check the neutral (wide blade) of the cord plug to the white/black wire on the timer. I’m using an older wiring diagram for this style washer so there may be differences. I do not have the exact diagram for your model. If you could provide a clear photo of the diagram and timer chart, that would be helpful.
