Hi,
For the past week, the fridge is making a constant popping sound every few seconds, coming from what we believe is the upper left-hand side (the diffuser/damper). We thought it was initially ice build up from the ice-maker machine, so we have already tried defrosting and disconnecting it from the power for 24 hours to no avail.
Contacting Maytag support was no use, it basically went along the lines of "Did you try turning it off and on?" "Okay, if that didn’t fix it, we can send someone out to assess the problem for $90 for the trip, and $30 for every additional 15 minutes the technician is there."
I’d rather try to fix this myself or at least find out the cause, since that money could be put to use for a new part. However, we cannot find a way to remove the diffuser. Any youtube videos I’ve come across shows screws on the side of their Maytag models, which this one doesn’t have. I’ve linked photos of what we believe to be the culprit and a video of the sound.
Anyone have had any experiences dealing with this model? ~
Thanks in advance!
