I have an intermittent spin cycle issue. About 40% of the time the washer does not engage the spin cycle. Water drains completely from the tub. When it does not spin I can hear, what I believe is the motor spinning [a little louder that it’s normal sound]. If I open and close the lid I hear a clank sound [like maybe brake being released] and then it will engage the spin cycle. Any idea what part I need to replace? Thanks.
HI.
Based on your description there is a bad timer. After the drain is completed timer suppose to make a short pause which allows the transmission to engage the spin.
If the washer drains nonstop without the pausing - it’s a bad timer.

Thank you. Post the results.

Could the timer be defective in such a way that it would cause it to fail intermittently?
Hi.
Yes. It’s possible.
