I am going to have to change the input shaft seal on my Maytag washer, which has been leaking for some time, but need to know how much oil to add to the gearcase. From what I’ve read, it sounds like I have to separate the two halves of the gearcase, and fill the bottom half almost to the top.
I was also wondering, if the gearcase does have to be disassembled, do I need to use a gasket sealer between the two halves when reassembling it? I already have a tube of Loctite 515, as this was recommended to me for use on the input shaft seal.
