Hello,
I have a washer that stopped draining water. It sounds like it would like to drain, but perhaps something is plugging it?! I am attempting to take the basket apart, but I can not remove the base of the plastic agitator from the tub basket. I have unscrewed the center column screw, but it won’t slide or pry up. Is it possible it is rusted on? I am sure this is very old since it belonged to an elderly lady before me who owned it for a long time. The model number is
Model #11082183110. Everything I have read on the internet says the agitators are supposed to lift off when the transmission connecting screw is removed. I sprayed some PB Blaster down there, I don’t know if that will help.
Additionally, when I moved the washer out, there as a little pool of brown oil (transmission oil?) on the floor. Thanks for any help.
If there is transmission oil leaking, then you don’t need to take off the agitator. Unfortunately you will need to replace the machine, given its age. You have gotten your money’s worth, and given the aggressive pricing of new, basic top loaders it is time to have a nice new machine in your house.
