Good morning. I have a GE washing machine model number WPSF5170W0WW.
The problem that I am having is that it only agitates on the regular cycle. If I try it on the soak or delicate cycles, etc. the agitate is INCREDIBLY slow. It goes through all the regular steps on regular cycle including filling appropriately to desired water level, spins, and drains fine.
If anyone can give me some suggestions or advice I would sincerely appreciate it as I’d rather not buy a new machine if I can fix this one myself. Any help is appreciated. Thank you again and I hope to hear from someone.
Does the washer make an unusual clicking noise while agitating in delicate cycle? If so, you may have a bad motor. Take front panel off and post video to youtube showing washer action while in delicate. If it’s not making a clicking noise, you may have a bad timer contact causing a voltage drop to the motor during delicate low speed operation. You would have to check the voltage at motor connector white wire to ground while washer is running in delicate. This can be tricky because the assembly, including motor, will be rocking back and forth.

Thank you so much for your reply. It doesn’t make any form of clicking noise and I just tried it and it’s working for a few seconds and then goes back to slow and then again to regular speed on the delicate cycle. Does this sound to be more like the timer contact? Thank you again. I’m doing a load of laundry now and just put it on the regular cycle to not chance fate. lol
Could be timer, bad motor switch, bad connection at motor or maybe even the clutch pulley on the motor is slipping. If you could post video, with sound, of motor running in delicate when problem occurs, it would help alot. Observe the motor pulley while problem is occuring. There’s a clip on the bottom of the motor shaft. The pulley should spin at the same rate as the clip. If you notice a difference when agitator slows, then the clutch needs servicing. If they both slow down and speed up when problem occurs, then were back to the other possibilities.
