Clicking during Agitation & Spin

Thank you in advance to anyone who reads this and decides to help.
I am not completely sure on the age of the machines, but we got a GE washer and Dryer set from some friends, knowing there was an issue with the washer. I am now getting around to fixing the washer and need a little help, as I want to make sure I repair the right stuff. I have the washer model WMSE3140A3WW.

If I am correct, there are two agitator speeds. One where it uses short faster motion, and another using the longer motions. The shorter faster agitation works fine, but the longer agitation ends up doing a series of click noises, I can see the agitator moving, but there is a clicking noise, with the motor starting, clicking then stopping.

I opened up the front of the washer, and when it is doing to short agitation, the counterweight on the transmission is at the back of the machine. When doing the second part of the agitation, the counterweight is at the front of the machine.

When it goes to do the spin cycle, the whole transmission is spinning at it is making the same clicking noises as it does during the longer agitation cycle, except the clicking happens about twice as fast.

I hope I have given enough information.

Please feel free to ask more questions of me so I can try and narrow it down for you all and myself.

Thanks again,
Daniel

UPDATE: While this clicking is happening - more exactly during the rinse cycle, every click produces a small spark in the top of the motor.
This leads me to believe that the motor is bad.
Anyone else willing to varify for me?

Based on your last statement it sounds as if the motor is sparking and if so it will probably have to be replaced.

Before spending that money try to make certain that the motor is the source of the noise.
