Amana convection not heating

I have an Amana convection wall oven that is displaying F1, I followed the instructions on the ERC test and discovered that I needed to replace the ERC panel. I did this and I still get F1 display. The convection fan and internal light comes on but, no heat! The touch pad seem to be working correct. Does anyone have an explanation?

…The F1 came back so I replaced the ECR. Part # AP3970410 (Y0309305)…

I’m afraid you replaced the wrong part.

The above part number is for the power relay board and not for the ERC.

The right part number for the ERC (clock) is AP97228.

hi Gene,
acutually we have diagnosed the problem…it is a circuit breaker going out. Caused the oven to stop heating intermittently, but rest of panel (timer/clock) still worked. Just would not heat. We have reset breaker several times and it fixes problem. will replace breaker soon.

Keep us posted.

Gene.

The model number you posted is incomplete. Also we need the manufacturing (MFG) number of the range.

Gene.

Gene,
Its an Amana single wall oven. Cycling power brings up the F1 code, which clears on pressing cancel button. When bake is selected can set to 350, and goes into preheat and the ‘on’ light comes on, within seconds the temp display goes away and just the clock is displayed- no heat. I do hear the relay board clicking at the start of the bake selection.

Sorry for the delay.

Most likely the problem is a bad Electronic Range Control.

Gene,
Ordered the erc, in the meantime replaced the keypad/panel with a new one I had from an original warranty repair (8 years ago service guy left a new keypad after replacing the erc unit). Now oven will switch on and heats, tried 350 and was fine. On turning off heat still get an f1 error, which will cancel , but comes back after a few minutes. I presume the erc is still faulty? and needs replacing. Noticed that the original keypad had a crack in plastic facing on the up/+ arrow, would that have been part of the problem?

Yes, it is possible.

Gene.

Gene,
Installed new erc and everything is fine. Looks like it was both the faulty erc and the cracked keypad.Original sercvice guy was going to order the relay board, glad I did it myself, thanks for your help.

You are welcome. Glad to hear it. Thank you for the feedback and good luck with your oven.

If you turn off power supply (at breaker) and the power back up do you get any error codes…may have to wait a few minutes before code comes up.

The oven over the years has occasionally got the F1 code but it comes and goes. During this last problem, it got an F1 briefly.

Thanks very, I’ll order one and give it a try…Tom

I’ve got the exact same problem so would like to know how you make out. Mine has been doing this on and off for about 4 years but only during the summer, only shuts off while it’s hot and I can usually get it going again after about 5 minutes of trying.

My ECR will be delivered tomorrw, I’ll post to let you know how it works. I won’t get to it until after 6:00 PM EST but if all goes well and it’s not too late I’ll post the result…Tom

I installed the new ECR today and the oven works great. 8 screws and 3 wire connectors is all it takes. Thanks for all the help, great diagnostic job…Tom

You are welcome Tom. We are glad to hear the problem solved. Thank you for the feed back and good luck with your oven.
