I have a maytag neptune M# mah3000aww that makes noise like it is coming apart or there is a load of bricks in it when it spins everone says it takes a $450.00 part to fix it but why cannt you just replace the baering and not the hole tub?
Maytag does not sell the bearing separate. It comes as a part of the outer tub assembly, that’s why it is very expensive.
Gene.
Crunch into Google, Maytag Neptune MAH3000 spin basket bearings. You will get several sites that will supply bearings. Also, Maytag does sell the seal for them.
Main hard job is pounding out the old bearings, some people use a piece of pipe and a hammer to do it. You can use the old bearings to start pressing in the new ones. I would use a wood dowel to get them in all the way.
Also, when you pull out the spin basket, inspect the spider drum support for water damage, and clean and spray with a good metal protector like rustoleum.
I believe %url% has this procedure, they say it is rather easy.
I just replaced the bearings on my Nepyune 5500. The bearings were NKS bearings I think. Doesn’t matter as they are just common sealed bearings that you can pick up anywhere. You will need to order the seal kit also. I repaired mine for less than $100.
How do I remove the control panel to replace the vent, boost & light buttons. It looks like I need part WB27X10725, but can’t find a good picture showing the buttons. Can anyone help, please?
