Broken Compression Ring for Washer Timer

Hi All,

Recently, the compression ring associated with the washer timer on my GE washer broke making the control knob pretty much useless. I’ve removed the washer timer and was about to attempt removing the compression ring from the timer in order to replace the ring. Does anyone know the best way to remove the ring from the timer as I’m afraid I’ll probably break it? Or does anyone suggest that attempting to remove the ring is not the best approach and it would be better if I just replace the timer all together?

Appreciate any help on this matter.

Check and make sure the problem is not with the knob itself. These GE knobs tend to break off the ridges that move the timer.

If it is ok you are probably going to have to replace the timer itself.
