Motor coupler went - fixed and worked for 2 months.
Motor coupler went, stripped in middle, agitated but wouldn’t spin turned out motor coupler partially stripped so would had stopped agitating too - found that out after pulling everything apart, cleaned tubs of mud, checked drive block was good, made sure transmission worked, could not turn the clutch by finger force and it was dry - so everything appeared good outside of the failed coupler. Put it all back together w new coupler and worked for a week and a half.
Now won’t spin but as always everything else works, just won’t spin.
One thing I have noticed is that every repair person asks ‘if spin cycle is on can you spin the tub by hand?’ - Everyone says yes but that is not the case for me. I bypass lid switch but cannot spin the tub by hand, not at all- what problem does that indicate? Brake lock? - and/or what is the fix if that problem is obvious.
Thanks!
Need to run it in spin mode with the cabinet off and lid switch bypassed. Observe the clutch hub. If the motor is running and the clutch hub is not spinning, there is a gearcase issue. If the hub is spinning then either the clutch is slipping, the brake cam driver is defective or there is a problem with the basket drive. If the clutch hub spins ok, I would remove the agitator and the gearcase. Grab the brake cam driver and rotate it CCW by hand. This should release the brakes and allow the basket to rotate fairly easily. You can see if the brakes release ok. If they release and it is difficult to rotate the basket, there may be clothing caught between the tubs.
