Cold water will nor fill

Kenmore 80s. Cold water will not fill. Line is clear to the washer intake. Hot water fills fine. I removed the screen from the washer intake - still no luck. I do get a very slow drip. Cold water valve is completely open.

Do you have a way of testing for 120VAC at the cold valve inlet terminals?

Sorry it took so long to reply-busy weekend. I do not have tool to test 120vac. Thank you for assistance

Reverse the wire connectors from the hot and cold sides of the inlet valve. Select hot fill and see if there is any water. If not, replace the valve. Here’s the part number: [part]AP3094541[/part]

As long as I had the machine pulled apart I went ahead and ordered the part. Arrived in two days standard shipping. Must be a slow time for UPS. The valve I took out was definitely not an original part(Dole N-50). Installed the new valve and put the cabinet back together as per http://www.repairave.com/washerrepair_wpl_watervalve.asp. Everything is now working perfectly. Hope it lasts. I didn’t think I had it in me.

I am a retired man living check to check and the price of a repairman or a new washer would have been a great hardship. No increase in Social Security, 20% increase in health insurance.

Thank you man. Your handle is well deserved, and thank you to appliance pros

Of course you have it in you! One of the things you can do to make this one last a little longer is place strainer washers in the hoses at the ends that connect to the washer.
