When filling the washing machine, hot water flows fine but cold water seems extremely slow, such that when set for warm, all I get is hot water. Tried clearing the outside water hoses and screens, even replaced both.
Could the water control valve close to the inlet connections be bad only for the cold water line line? Or is there a water line inside the cabinet that could be clogged with mineral deposits?
How do you open the front panel door to get inside the machine’s housing?
Yes your cold water part of the valve can have a problem without it affecting the hot water valve. The two lines converge so there is not cold water line to clog. I assume you have a sink or bucket handy, so if you have not done so, disconnect the hose and turn on the cold water just to confirm you have good pressure from the hose.
If all checks out replace the valve assembly. You can get into your machine by taking out the two screws at the bottom of the front to remove the front panel.
Thanks. Obtained the replacement valve from Appliance Parts and installation was even easier. On the rear of the washing machine is a small plate held by one screw. When removed that screw, the plate lifted out far enough to work on the valve mounted with just two screws on the backside (inside) of that plate. No need at all to open up the overall cabinet of the washing machine. Ours was the Maytag Model A512 Series 02 Heavy Duty top loader, so maybe that model is easier. Took only about 10 minutes and I’m no pro. Thanks again.
Great, yes they did make it easy to get to the valve on some models.
Thanks for the update, good luck going forward.
I have a GE front load washer, model wbvh5200j2ww, that won’t spin. The motor checks out fine. The belt is fine. The pump is working. I tried test modes T10 and T11 - won’t spin. I reset the error codes and can’t remember what numbers they were, but I know they were in the motor drive section. I have the inverter pulled out and am trying to check it. Where and how do I check this part?
