My Whirlpool SC8720EDBO cooktop will occasionally fail to ignite or light. I have gas and can light with matches but have no igniter click. When it fails, none of the four burners will generate igniter click. If I turn the burner off and on, turn on two burners, turn the fan off and on, or wait a while, the igniter will eventually start working again. From what I’ve read, I think it might be the spark module, but don’t know if it might be the relay or one of the valve switches. Thanks for any input.
Very likely the problem is a bad spark module but before you will replace it make sure the stove is properly grounded and it has the right polarity.

Thanks much for the info, Gene. I’ll check the cooktop as you suggest and order the part if necessary. Regards.
