Defrost Timer or Heater Element?

Two years ago I replaced the heater element and thermostat in the freezer due to the coils freezing over, not making ice, warm refrig, etc. It has fixed it for a while. Two weeks ago I recognized the same symptoms, defrosted it, and it did okay until now. If I defrost the freezer it will work for another week or maybe two, then completely ice over. Also, the unit seems to run all the time.

My question is if it is a defrost timer or should I purchase another heater element? I don’t have a voltmeter or quip to fix it…and no schematics.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat here- http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php

Turn the timer till it clicks and turns the freezer off. Heater should come on.If it does the timer is the problem. If it doesn’t, bypass the defrost thermostat. If it still doesn’t come on the heater is bad. If it does the thermostat is bad.

Sorry but I don’t have any idea where the timer is; do you have a diagram? Thanks
