Dishwasher dripping from front, and burnt smell from back

For a month when the dishwasher is turned on, water slowly drips from the top (where the orange/white sticker is located), goes through the white translucent plastic ‘redirector’, and down eventually to the bowl. Does anyone know why this water comes out this way? And what is the cause? The plastic redirector seems to be intentionally constructed to let water drip out?

Also just yesterday, I started smelling really bad plastic burning, seemingly from the back of the dishwasher flowing to the sink cabinet (located next to it). I haven’t had the chance to diagnose when in the cleaning cycle it starts, but it seemed like it was at the end of drying.

This is a Samsung DMT400RHS dishwasher. Are these 2 issues related or separate? And is it easy to repair by myself, or does a tech need to come in person? Thanks!
