My whirlpool model du920pfgz2 dishwasher with touchpad controls works perfectly when we operate it. However, it also starts itself and runs completely through a normal cycle - even when nobody is in the kitchen. I have tried shutting off the power to let the electronics "reboot", but that didn’t help. Ther doesn’t seem to be any specific time or consistancy to this event. Your "chat" told me I should replace the control console AP3044891, a $152.00 keypad. This is an expensive part. Is there a way to test the part to be sure IT is the cause of my problem. I’d hate to spend $152 on a part for an old dishwasher and find out that I need to replace something else! Are there other parts that could produce the same symptom? All cycles, lights, and functions work, except that we never know when the dishwasher will start itself! Any advice about service, testing, or part installation will be greatly appreciated.
