Dishwasher Won't Stop Running

I ran my dishwasher on a sanitizing cycle and it did not shut off. I realized that it had been running for too long and opened the door to check on it. When I opened the door, many of my microwave safe, plastic items were misshapen or beginning to melt from the intense heat although the dishes were not actually clean. If I shut the door, the cycle starts again and the digital push button panel does not function at all. I have tried turning the breaker off but that did not work. What part or parts do I most likely need to replace to get it working again?
