Display Is Out But All Else Is Working

Good Evening:

I have a Kitchenaid KESC308LSSO with a problem. The control display does not display!! The keys will beep properly (1 beep = no error). The oven will begin to heat. The oven light will turn on and off at the display board. The cook top will cook. NO other display is actually seen.

I went to the parts breakdown for my model on Appliancepartspro and found two suspect parts: the CONTROL BOARD (PN AP3176181) or the POWER BOARD (PN AP3174904). I think I could replace either but I dont know which is faulty on mine. Or, if there is another problem.

The attached photo shows the range when it was operational (clock works, etc.) No display presently is working.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you all in advance for your kind help.

Jeff,

Most likely the problem is a bad display board (control board).

There is one very important thing which has to be done after you finish the repair.

Connect unit to power, set power “ON” and wait until “CONTROL LOCK” clears and display shows “PF” (this will take approx. 10 seconds). Within one minute, perform the following steps in the sequence indicated:

  1. Press CONVECTION BROIL.
  2. Press CLEAN.
  3. Press BAKED GOODS.
  4. Press STOP TIME.
  5. Press 1.
  6. Press 9.
  7. Press 0.
  8. Press TIMER SET-START.
  9. Wait 3 seconds.
The clock display will show ELE and one of the following:
  • hb-FS, for Hidden Bake Free Standing units (with top light),
  • Eb-FS, for Exposed Bake Free Standing units (with top light),
  • hb-SI, for Hidden Bake Slide In units, and
  • Eb-SI, for Exposed Bake Slide In units.
  1. Next, in order to confirm proper function for each feature, keep pressing START until control scrolled through all features.

Gene: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Your recommendation and detailed instructions completely fixed my problem. I ordered the part you suggested and repaired it last night. I had to go throught the set up a couple times but I got it. Thanks for your help.
Jeff

You are welcome Jeff. I’m glad you were able to fix it.

My Kitchen-Aid range (kesc307hbs8) has same problem. The suppressor was fried so I ordered a new one. Will that possibly be the problem? I have researched that the C3 capicator is the problem for this range and issue. Could that be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which part did you call "suppressor"? Can you refer to the parts list?

What exactly is wrong with the range?
