Replacing Control Board and Glass cook top

I have two issues with my KitchenAid electric range model KESC307HWW8.

 1. I boiled over some water and now the display panel is blank. The touchpad still works, just no display. I believe that the control board needs to be replaced? - Part Number: AP3176181

 2. When cooking a heavy pot of potatoes, the glass cook top cracked and needs to be replaced. -Part Number: AP3837477

The question is, can a homeowner do these repairs? and where can I find instructions to do this

The board may not need replacing.
Have you tried unplugging the unit for a couple minutes to see if it will reset?

If it still does not work, I would unplug the unit and open it up, then dry the board off with a hair dryer.
Could be that there is just some moisture between a couple tracks or part connections and that is dropping the voltage to the display.

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Here is a manual which should help with the repair.
