I have a 6 year old Whirlpool GU1500XTLB2 dishwasher that sprung a leak (on a wood floor of course)! After troubleshooting, I determined there were two pin hole sized leaks in the bottom of the tub; almost immediately after starting, water would be dripping out. After a call to Whirlpool to clear up the multiple warranties listed in the manual, it was determined the tub had a 20 year warranty, so that plus the labor would be covered.
My question is, since they are going to basically build me a dishwasher after stripping everything off the old tub and placing it on the new, am I asking for trouble by not replacing the sump seal gasket at the same time? It seems to be a tough part to come by, and the repair tech says he has never had an issue with the seal. Maybe I am confusing back in the day, replacing valve cover and engine seals, thinking that they are one-time parts, not durable enough for reuse. Thanks for the help.
