Dryer won’t start, makes loud noise as if drum is stuck. I suspect belt or pully, but am having trouble accessing drum, can’t open top of dryer. Is there another access from the back or am I missing something to remove top. Thank you for any help.
Open the door and see if you can turn the drum at all by
hand. If so then tape the door switch in the closed position.
Then hold the startup switch in the start position while
at the same time giving the drum a good spin by hand,
you might need two people to do this,
(Just watch your hand when you do this). If the unit starts
then chances are that the start winding is bad in the motor.
If you cant turn the motor then either the motor bearings
are locked up or there could be something stuck in the blower.
Any ideas? I see from your parts list that a motor is $135+ and a bearing kit is $35+, may not be wise to repair?
The bake element does not work. The broiler element does work.
When the stove is turned on there is the normal "click" of it starting to heat up…quickly followed by another "click" I assume the second click is the bake element shutting off since I can still heat the oven with the broiler element until the "preheat" light comes on
Thre are no breaks in the bake element. I have not tried a volt meter yet and would like to avoid if there is an easy answer. Possiblities have been listed as bad bake element, bad thermostat or bad controls.
Would like to know if second click in controls and the ability to "overide" the bad bake element by preheat using the brolier element would steer me to the more appropriate part.
Thanks
