The drum will not turn. When you push it start knob you can hear it try to start. I have checked the belt and there is nothing binding it. I removed the drum and bypassed the door cut-off and the motor turns fine. Put it all back together and then it won’t turn again. Is there any thing I am missing? Thank you for your help.
Try turning the drum by hand in the correct direction, it should turn fairly easily.
I know fairly easily is not much of a description so you may want to try this on a couple other dryers to get a feel for it.
If OK
Then the probable cause is the motor not having enough power to start with a load on it. Could be that the start winding is open.
If NG
Then you will have to open it up and find what is causing it to jam re; worn front glides or a bad roller etc.
It is somewhat hard to turn. When you push it and start it at the same time it will start running. However it will not even push start with a load of laundry. Am I looking at replacing the motor?
Am I looking at replacing the motor?
Odds are high that this is the problem.
But I would check into the drum rotation more especially if with a load in it becomes very difficult to turn.
