Dryer has no power, light doesn’t come on. Checked outlet voltages (240/120/120) and a pig tailed light works. Voltages on the terminal block read L1-N 0, L1-L2 240, L2-N 240. Repairman said dead motor, but I’m not buying it. Why would the light or control panel not come on? Why are the terminal voltages wacky?
You must have an open neutral. Either in the power cord or in the dryer wiring between cord connection block and control board.

Bad dryer cord. Repair man missed that one. All better now. Thanks for the help!
So when my dryer stopped working again yesterday, I thought "No problem, cord must have gone bad again". Unfortunately, I was wrong. Almost exactly the same problem as before, except this time I tested the cord first. It was perfect. But when I hook it up to the terminal connections, I get L1-N 0, L2-N 240, L1-L2 240, L1-ground 120, L2-ground 120, N-ground 120. Must be a short but I have no idea where. Why doesn’t the circuit breaker trip on this?
