My dryer seems to heat up excessively when drying a load of clothes. They are almost too hot to touch when taking them out. I thought at first that the vent may be clogged, but I cleaned it out and it still does it. Any ideas on what might be the culprit? Thanks for any help.

Toolguy,
Did you check for a shorted heater element ?
It may have broke and shorted to the element casing.
Do you have a thermometer or temperature meter so you can check for 155(+/-10%) degrees at the exhaust vent on the dryer, with the vent off ?
That would be the next step, were it me.
Good Luck,
