Electric Dryer makes grumbling noise and turns slowly

The dryer does dry clothes.

However, the drum turns slowly and makes a growling sound. The sound seems to originate in the back. We took it apart and found the belt okay. The rotator "sleeve" (?) was not frayed.

I don’t want to take it apart again and find out that everything else (minus the motor) is okay.

Any ideas welcome. Thank you very much.
