As the washer fills with water (wash cycle), within the first couple of seconds starting, it triggers an error code (F1) twice. I press stop and then start again for these two episodes. Again, as washer fills for the rinse cycle, the error code (F1) triggers twice. I follow the same procedure - press stop, then start each time it triggers. After each of these beginning episodes, the wash and rinse continues without interruption.

What do I need to do to correct this problem?

Look under the top or inside the lower service panel and you should find tech notes that will show you how to do tests based on the error code. Focus on the door lock assembly, associated wiring and the control unit.
