I managed to repair two problems myself without buying anything, and I’m a 52 year old mom who knows nothing about washing machine repair! A year ago I opened the door accidentally while the washer was starting. Then the code E41 appeared and I could do nothing else with the washer. My repairman tried a new locking device, but couldn’t get it to work, and told me it must be the main control board which would cost as much as a new machine. When he left I found the code booklet which had been taped inside the machine all along.(It’s for qualified technicians only), and I read how to erase the code. I thought the lock wasn’t really broken, but the error code remained, and I needed to erase it. The booklet, albeit very awkwardly written, showed me how to go into diagnostic mode and then clear the latest stored code: (1.turn program knob to touch-up, and press/cancel;2. press Option and Pause/cancel together until all lights flash. 3.Rotate program knob clockwise, one stop at a time for nine clicks. Error code will display. 4.press Options and Pause/cancel together for three seconds. Code is erased from machine memory). After that, my machine worked fine.
Today my machine wouldn’t drain or spin. The error code was E23, which the code booklet said I needed to either replace the control console board, wire or pump. I tried erasing the code, but this time erasing the code didn’t work. I thought about buying a new control panel, but before I ordered it I watched the ‘how to replace a pump’ video on appliancepartspros. Removing one of the hoses to the pump resulted in a huge gush of water, and I cleared out the hose, and guess what? It works great now! And I didn’t need to buy anything! Don’t rush to buy parts until you’ve tried these tricks. I hope they work for you.
