Washer was purchased in aug. 2010 (no extended warranty ). Washer will not advance through cycles and errors during any cycle (wash, rinse and spin, drain and spin etc… I accessed the cleanout at bottom and cleaned trap of all debris/lint. the pressure line seems to be clear (I can blow air through tube directly to tub) and can hear the pressure switch click once (should there be 2 valve clicks?) when air is blown into switch nozzle. I have ran diagnostics and received 2 codes F1E1 (pump driver/main relays error) and F9E1 (long drain error). I completed numerous automated cycle tests with no issues, all cycles worked. I also cleared all error codes and the F9E1 error has disappeared but the F1E1 error still occurs once a regular cycle is started. Any advice would be much appreciated. Whirlpool wants $129 to send out a technician and I would prefer to make that my last resort.
Hello.
If there is no restriction in the drain line and the drain pump is working, check all the connectors at the CCU (main control board). Replug connectors.
If the problem still exists then most likely replace the CCU.
The control unit part # AP453844.
Thank you. Post the result.
Simon,
Thanks for the quick reply. Did you mean the drain pump next to the cleanout trap? How do I know if the pump is bad? Remove and check impeller or other? I did notice the cleanout trap cap looked partially discolored from heat thus a possible pump issue caused by excess material blocking water flow? The washer seemed to drain well and did not error out during the automated test cycle. Could the pump still be bad even though the test cycle finished properly?
Hi.
If the washer was draining OK during the test, then the pump is OK.
Most likely it’s the CCU.
You can always return unused parts, even if they has been installed.
Thank you. Post the results.
Thanks for the advice. ordered the CCU and installed it today. Very easy repair. Washer is working fine. looks like the replacement unit has a 3rd horizontal mount, the original part did not. I wonder if that mount was added to curb vibration to the unit? Anyway thanks again for your quick replies and advice.
You are welcome.
