I was wondering if you ever figured out what the problem was. My oven started doin this exact thing and was wondering if you could help me out. Thank you very much in advance.

I have an indentical issue. Redsearch says F# is an error generated because the OVen Temp exceeded 55o degrees. However what part fixes it is the question. My gut instinct is the oven controller or keypad board but would like some input from someone with more experience
Front left burner will not heat at all. Not sure if associated with simmer option button. swaped element with another burner (right rear) and it works fine. The stove is about 4 years old and in very good shape. The plug underneath looks to be in good shape and the contacts are visible and in good shape. Any way to test to find out what is the problem?
Thanks,
Alex.

Sounds like you already have done this.
Since the element checks out OK and you have checked the wiring all that is left is the infinite control switch.
I am not sure what the Infinite control switch is. Is ther a part number I can look up?
Thanks,
Alex.

I have been unavailable for a week hopefully you were able to get info on the switch. It is the control on the back panel. Take a look at the second item in the parts list. Always order referring to the element that is not working as sometimes different elements use different switches.
This should also help.

Sorry for the delay.
Did the actual over temperature condition occurred?
If it did, replace the oven control board.
If it did not, replace the oven temperature sensor and eliminate all sensor plugs. Instead hardwire the sensor using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts.
There is also a very small chance for the control board to be bad as well.
If you do need the correct part numbers then post the Complete model number of the oven.

Does the Broil heating element come ON instead of the Bake heating element when you select the Bake? How the temperature is rising?
The model number you posted is incomplete.

Hey Denman,
I never got around to fixing the problem with me Kenmore stove model 790.9421340A with the left front burner (with simmer button) not working. I followed the old link you gave me, but it does not seem to list an infinite control switch any more. Would you mind giving me a new link so I can order the part you suggested?
Thank you,
Alex.
I tried both links I had sent you and they both still work for me.
Here is the ApplancePartsPros link, call them and they should be able to get you the correct part

Hey Denman,
Itβs been a long time, but I managed to finally change the infinite switch on the simmer burner and no dice. Still not working. I swapped the infinite switch on that burner with the switch from the rear burner and (to test the connector/wire on the front burner) and it works fine. So all I have left to change are the electronic boards. Any clues? thanks, Alex.
Here is a wiring diagram

Looks like left front is the simmer select element.
So it may be the simmer select board.
denman,
Do you have a part number for that?
Thanks,
Alex.
Best to double check thuis with the parts people.
Thank you very much.
Alex.
