Freezer and Friday cool, but not cold; clicking noise

Woke up this morning to puddle of water on the floor in front of freezer caused by ice in icemaker defrosting and running down inside of door. Food also semi-defrosted. Freezer and fridge both cool inside but not cold. A few hours later, I took off back panel and panel inside freezer. Evaporator coil not frozen or even wet but discovered defrost sensor/thermostat that clips to top of coil was loose. Reattached. Plugged back in. Fan in freezer and fan to cool compressor are both running constantly and compressor is warm/hot and vibrating – but sounds like it’s clicking on and off every few minutes (there’s a clicking noise and humming drops to lower tone and then about a minute later there’s another clicking noise and humming goes up). I currently have it unplugged while compressor cools off. Could the defrost have been caused by the detached sensor or is something else likely amiss? Ideas on what else to check or should I just plug it back in once compressor cools and then leave it alone overnight and see if freezer/fridge cool properly now that defrost sensor is reattached?

You probably have a compressor start device that blew out, just check
