The freezer is cold but not like it should be probably right around freezing maybe few degrees above and that is with the temp. control all the way to coldest. I cleaned the condenser coils, compressor fan runs, but the compressor is mildly hot , I pulled off starter relay and shook it and hear a rattling noise in it, plugged it back in and you can hear it click a couple times before the compressor turns on, but other times after unplugging fridge and plugging back in the compressor starts right away, dont hear any clicking noise. Looked at evaporator coil and most of it was frost free except for the very top and side and bottom of it had frost build up. Any suggestions. thank you
Also frig is about 2 years old
Pull off the back freezer panel and check the evaporator coils, if covered entirely with heavy frost, defrost them. If only partially frosted with a light frost, you have either a bad compressor, of refrigerant leak.
Yeah I did , and it was just on the very outside of the coil , top, side, bottom. Most of coil was frost free
If the compressor is allwys running and only freezing part of the evaporator, you have a bad compressor/refrigerant leak.
if i have a refrid. leak wouldnt i be able to see it somewhere ? would it not be greasey looking ? the freezer and fridge is getting worse. now the fridge wont keep things cold. If its a bad compressor can I test it for resistance ?
I took the back cover off of freezer so I can see the evaporator coil better again and the compressor has been running for about 1.5 hr and only the very bottom tube on coil and tube going up the side towards the defrost sensor is getting frost on it . I can hear refridgerant going through the coil , so is my compressor bad. like I said before I can’t see anywhere that refridgerant has leak out .
Hi.
You should check the "Sealed system" factory warranty. Possibly it’s still covered.Call Frigidaire.
Thank you.
