Freezer / reefer quit working. Unplugged for a couple of hours. Plugged back in unit got cold for a couple of days then quit getting cold again. Compressor is running, condensor fan running, coils clean, temperature controls work, have output from circuit card. Although unit is not getting cold it cycles through defrost mode after being plugged in for a few hours ( determined by output on circuit card defrost terminal)
If you meant the evaporator coils then there is a problem with the sealed system.
thanks for your reply
Condensor … haven’t got into the evaporator side yet… what do you consider as clean on evaporator coil … free of ice? Should I open up back of freezer compartment to look at it? After being unplugged for a couple of days I would think it was free of ice. Don’t understand why it goes into defrost when freezer not cold. Does it do this even though it’s not cold? Thinking system may have lost charge, there is a green tarnish on areas of tubing from compressor. Indication of a leak?
Compressor is warm to touch and has slight vibration. That’s my determination that it is running. Any chance it might be a loss of / low on refrigerant? No signs of leakage
What would cause compressor to go out? We have always kept condenser coils and area around clean. (Wife is a clean freak)
The compressor may be drawing current, but not running. Best thing to do if you have no amprobe is to pull the start device off the side of the compressor. If it rattles, it’s blown, just order a new one.AP4367355 The item that plugs into it is the run capacitor.
I need to replace a missing wheel assembly that fits into the side of the tub for the top rack. How do I do this? Do I need to pull out the dishwasher or can I do it from inside the tub?
I’m moderately handy, but this will be a new experience.
