Greetings!
My first time post so bear with me:
I have an issue with my Whirlpool ED5FHAXVA00. It slowly stopped making ice and began frosting the food in the freezer. Eventually, the top of the freezer and refrigerator became warm and the bottom is still cold. I removed the panel in the back of the freezer and noticed the evaporator fan was not spinning (not circulating air I assume?). I read around the internet and decided to replace the defrost thermostat. I replaced it and the freezer/refrigerator has been on for about 4 hours now and the evaporator fan is still not turning on. I noticed when I plug the freezer back in to the wall, the fan kicks for about one second then decides to quit. I tried encouraging it with a little spin but to no avail. So what next? Should I replace the evap fan motor next? What and where is the compressor/condenser? Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
EDIT: Oh yes the water dispenser works, ice dispenser does not.
So what next? Should I replace the evap fan motor next?
It does sound like the fan is toast. To check it unplug the fan or if you can check at it’s connector with the fan still plugged in, measure the voltage across it. If you have 120 volts and the fan is not turning then it is toast for sure.
What and where is the compressor/condenser?
The compressor is 25 in section 11
The condenser coils are 3 in section 11

My evaporator fan is working and so is my condensor fan. I have replaced the temperator sensor at the top of the freezer, the defrost thermostat, and the main control board. What are other options.
