Freezer Water Leak

I own a side by side unit that leaks water from the freezer compartment onto the floor every couple of days or so. I have also found ice build-up on the freezer floor up to 1/2 inch deep.
The unit appears to be defrosting okay.
The drain pan underneath the unit is dry. I have not found any blockage in the drain tube from underneath.
I don’t know where the drain tube originates inside the unit.
I welcome any suggestions for a remedy to this condition.

Thank you.

If you look at the lower rear panel inside the freezer, you will find a block of ice at the bottom. Your defrost drain is under that ice and needs to be cleared out. Remove as much ice as you can, then remove the lower panel so you can get to the drain. Use hot water poured into the drain at the bottom to melt the ice along with fishing some thing down the drain. I use 1/4" water line that I push into the drain until it gets to the pan under the unit. Dry everything off and you should be back in shape.

Hello Brian,
I removed the rear lower freezer panel and found 3/4 inch of ice on top of the drain hole under the evaporator as you expected. I cleared off the ice with a hairdryer and a towel and reinstalled the shield and panel.
Fortunately I have arms long enough to reach back in there.
Thank you for you help.
What may have caused the situation to begin with? And is there anything I can do to prevent it happening again?
Thank again,
Ken

Hey Ken, you may want to run something down the drain line just be sure nothing is stuck. Usually you don’t find anything, but sometimes you may find things like butcher paper or even peas stuck in there. I use 1/4" water line and push it through until it comes out into the drain pan, that way I know nothing will cause it to happen again to soon.

The start button does not work and the dishwasher will not start. How do you test controls and or the circuit board?

John Howland,

did you find out what was wrong with your dishwasher? was it the control board or the assembly? My washer has the same issues and i am not sure which part to order.

I have not received an answer to my question yet.

i bought a new assembly and installed it yesterday. It’s now a working dishwasher.
