WE BOUGHT AN NEW SIDE BY SIDE FRIDGE FOR THE HOUSE, SO i MOVED THIS ONE TO THE GRAGE ABOUT A YEAR AGO. wORKED FINE AND ONE DAY IT JUST QUIT COOLING AND FREEZING. THE FAN IN THE BACK SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE. ANY SUGGESTIONS. THANKS KEVIN
Tonight I arrived home to a pool of water on the floor and my 2003 Kitchen Aid side by side the freezer was no longer frozen. After further inspection it appears that my fridge side as well might not be working. It seems that the fan is still working something is blowing air out of the lower part of the front side of the machine. Please help I would rather not lose all of the food on the fridge side. Thanks
my fridge and freezer are not cooling/freezing properly, but most parts that could malfunction and cause this problem seem to be in working order(i.e) compressor, defrost timer, defrost heater. Is there anyother ways this problem may occur?
Same issue as the previous post, all the usual pieces that break seem to be working. Had a repairman look at it yesterday, he checked the compressor, cleaned around the cooling vanes, fans are working. He swapped out the defrost timer after saying it was bad. Did not fix the problem. There is cold air coming out of the vent in the back of the freezer, but it is not cold enough to freeze the ice in the dispenser and very little (if any) cold air is getting down to the fridge (slightly less than room temp). Lights go on and off normally, the seals are good, the fans are blowing, but it just doesn’t get cold.
Whirlpool fridge, model number ER2CHMXPL00
Thanks for any help
my fregedaire electolux model ffu14fc4cw2 is not frezzer and ervinteng is working( normal ) .freezing properly is not please help

Hi gunner_guy26The first thing I would do is remove the cover on the back of the fridge and check if the compressor is running. If it’s not, then it could be the start device (#15 on the [AP3961332](http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=112958&&model_id=264246"start device ]unit break down diagram[/URL]). Remove the power from the fridge, pull out the from the compressor and shake it. If you can hear something inside is moving, replace the start device.
The part number for the new start device [URL="http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/ctrfs.aspx?part_id=3961332&&model_id=264246&diagram_id=112958)

Good luck.

I have a Whirlpool conquest side by side. All of a sudden after I finished loading the freezer up with meat it decided to quit working on me. The frig nor the freezer work. I have unplugged the plug in hopes of resetting the compressor but no luck at all. What is my next step? I have to be able to fix this one by myself. I live on a fixed income and unable to afford repair bills. Me and my home health worker would have to fix it ourselves. please email me the solution at pblystone1@hotmail.com
Help I need immediate help!!!

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?
Gene.
Hi, I am having the exact same issue on my GE Profile PSS25MGMB BB. I can hear it running, everthing is working but fridge and freezer not cooling at all. Is there also that same "start device" on my fridge? And if so, where do I find it and what does it look like?

What did you mean when you said "everything is working"?
The compressor is located on the back of the refrigerator. Verify if it does work by touching it. Clean the condenser coils on the back. Verify if the fan next to the compressor does work.

Hi Gene! Thank you for your expertise! I took the bottom panel off of the back of the fridge. The fan is denifitinly working, if the compressor is the the black roundish thing that the fan appears to be cooling…not so sure about that! It is not moving. I vaccuumed some filter looking thing. Still no cooling in the fridge and freezer. Thanks again for your help!
So do you think that it is the compressor that is broken? Should it be vibrating or making noise or something? And is that black roundish thing the compressor? Sorry, very dumb on this subject!
The compressor is shown on the following picture.
It should vibrate if it’s working.
If it’s not then you have to have a multimeter to perform some tests. Let us know when you will be ready.

Not to hyjack this thread but my GE Profile refrig just stopped cooling (both sides). Everything seems to be working, compressor feels like it is running, even warms up to the touch, but no cold air. Seems like it just lost its charge or something. It was working fine one minute then it just stopped cooling. This unit will be 6 years old in Oct so the compressor is out of warranty. Is there something else I should be looking at here or is this just junk at this point?
Thanks,
Joe
My problem is simular to yours…Had a power surge on easter weekend,& replaced the controle module… now it frosts up in the freezer, cause it turns off…I learned that i can unplug it & will reset itself ,but cant keep doing so every hour or so it turns off… thought it was the compressor fan motor, but learned not.I rapped on the refer side@ the adjustment nobs ,then it cut on,last night…thought i solved the problem cause it ran for a while, then i noticed this morning it was off again, opened boath doors, then it cut back on:eek: I dont know what to do… can anyone help? Thanks for reading
Hi.
Please provide the model number of the unit.
Simon.
Hi, mrdrywall.
From the info you provided I think that there is a bad cold control (one on the left).

You can use the old sleeve.
Thank you. Post the results.

Same model as the OP ET1MTMXKQ00 so just adding to the thread.
Fridge stopped working on Monday (got it going but did not figure out the problem) and then this morning before going to work.
Do not have the wiring diagram for this model (miss the old days of the diagraming being in the manual or a paper on/in the compressor area or a sticker on the fridge).
The whole fridge (no sound from the compressor, cond fan, evap fan) stopped working after it started for about 3-5 seconds. I adjusted the temperature control in the fridge and it did not start. Rotated it around to clean the contacts and then juggled it, no go (cranked it too a much cooler temperature). Eat breakfast and then opened the back up and tapped the starter on the compressor still no go. Compressor was warn to the touch as excepted but not hot. Removed the starter and gave it a shake and no rattle. Connected the wiring back to it and connected it back to the compressor, no go. Removed the starter and cond fan connecter and checked some voltages 0 volts on all as I excepted since nothing is running (with main line voltage at 120V, measured first). Did some more plugging and unplugging the main line with the starter off the compressor and the fan connector replaced. Heard no clicks until after one of the plug ins, I heard a click and the cond fan started up. Measured the voltage on the starter. Unplugged the main and unplugged the cond fan. Listened for where the click sound would come from when I plugged the main and it sounded like it was coming from somewhere to the right near where the connecter where the main connects to the fridge (maybe hearing echoes from somewhere else???). Measured the voltages on the fan and starter, 120V. Re-connected everything and all working as normal.
Any opinions on what it could be? I wanted to disconnect the wiring assembly and directly connect the main to the compressor and cond fan (jumping the wiring assembly) to the bypass the control circuit up in the fridge but had to go to work and since it started working I left it.
Thanks
Hi.
You may have the problem with the defrost timer or cold control.
Next time when the fridge will be acting up locate the round opening at the bottom of the control box. Using the flat screw driver slowly turn the timer’s shaft CW until it click.
If the fridge starts - replace the timer.
Defrost timer 482493

Thank you. Post the results.
Simon.
Thanks,
Could be as the first time I opened the fridge just as I started up and then shutdown 2 seconds later and the second time I just closed the door and then it started for the 3-5 seconds before it shutdown.
Currently working normally.
