Fridge/Freezer constantly runs. Cools fine.

11 yr old fridge - costco kirkland/whirlpool side by side fridge/freezer. I am going through the house finding inefficient energy consumers and noticed this is suspect. Hooked up the killawatt and indeed the compressor must be turning on (runs at 2.7amps most of the time) almost constantly. Using at least double the power of a new fridge (avg 3.5 kWh/day, 1260 kWh/yr).

The freezer and fridge are appropriate temperatures, and no frost problem in the freezer. I have fridge set to 2 (out of 5) and the freezer to B (middle) setting.

Any ideas? I vacuumed out the bottom condensor coils the best I could, but noticed no change. They don’t seem very warm to the touch.

You have an older refrigerator that is starting to show signs of old age. The reason it is running longer is the compressor is not as strong as original state. Yours is working harder to complete the same task, hence it is running longer. Without inspecting it personally, I cant say that there is any refrigerator repair you or anyone can perform, outside of replacing the compressor.
