Had a problem with the freezer intermittantly becoming too warm. Also lots of clicking coming from back or the fridge. After doing some reading it seemed like it was likely a defrost issue and the main board. I ordered and replaced two nights ago. Since then the fridge does not cool at all. I have ordered a new thermostat and thermistor, but am not sure that will take care of it. We emptied the fridge and moved everything to the garage fridge. I left the fridge off over night to make sure to ice buildup and tried running it again this morning. No cooling whatsoever. The evap and condenser fans run. The clicking seems to come from the area of the compressor. Is it a bad compressor and time for a new fridge?
Note if the compressor checks out OK electrically it does not eliminate it as a possible cause as it may have internal mechanical problems.
But if there is an electrical problem then you know it is toast.

How the heck do I get the old start device out. I see it, but it does not want to pry out. No visible way to disassemble.
OK, I brute forced the old one out piece by piece. The electrical tab did not want to come out. Put new one in. Fridge still no cooling. The start device clicks, it seems like the compressor wants to run, or runs for a bit, then I get another click. It then repeats. Already replaced the main board.
You replaced the overload klixon, not the start device AP4300623
Let us know if you have a box similar to this item, or a small, black start device. In any event, take a picture of the wiring before removing.
