Fridge and freezer both stay at around 18C. I removed the freezer panel, evaporator is running and not iced up. Removed the bottom back panel. Compressor was running but condenser fan wasnt. It was very dirty and a mouse was stuck in the fan. So I unplugged it, cleaned it and removed the mouse. Plugged it back in and fan spun right up. So I figured problem solved. Put a small dish of water in the freezer and thermometer in the freezer. 6 hours later water not even starting to freeze and fridge is still around 18C.
Its not going into defrost since anytime I open the freezer the evaporator is running and it shuts down when in defrost mode.
Please, make sure that compressor is running. It should make a bit of a humming sound and slightly vibrate. It also supposed to be really warm to a touch. If it runs I need you to remove the evaporator coil cover in the freezer again and check if a wet finger will stick to the coil surface all around the coil.
Compressor is running and I can feel the heat from a couple inches away. Ive opened up the freezer again, finger does not stick to the grill but some ice has formed over one of the wires/tubes
There was some peeling tape and gooey clay like stuff around a cylinder. I removed the ice (the tape and clay came with it) and have plugged the fridge back in and put a bowl of water in the freezer again to test
From what I see on the picture it’s a sealed system problem. Most likely a restriction within the capillary tube. It’s a job for a professional appliance tech with a proper equipment and experience.
