My washer had been trouble free for about 5 1/2 years and then the trouble started a year ago. It wasn’t draining and the clothes were coming out sopping wet. I ordered a new pump from another site and when I installed it discovered a sock in the drain hose. Same problem two more times over the past year- sock in the drain hose. This time when I pulled the drain hose there was nothing blocking it. Thinking the replacement pump might be bad I put the old one back in… still wet clothes but stayed to watch spin cycle and it was very noisy… banging, grinding… not full speed. some research here and things didn’t look good. Most likely bad bearings… not good. Went down and tried to turn the drum by hand and it was difficult to turn. On a whim I took a flash light and shined inside the drum (through the holes)… FABRIC! Now my washer is in a bunch of pieces and I have removed the offending garment from between the inner and outer drums. Now it seems to spin freely again, Yay! I’m going to replace the rubber surround with a new one, put the machine back together and report back. Hopefully this post can help someone else who thinks their bearings are bad.
